Are you looking for a careful and objective reader to edit your texts and polish them to perfection? An excellent idea! We highly recommend this service, regardless of content or text type.

With our revision service, we make all the necessary corrections:

  • typography – spacing, numbers, punctuation: all in the right place
  • spelling – British or American orthography, for example
  • syntax – place, manner or time: making sure your words are in the right order
  • grammar – avoiding linguistic pitfalls

If more than the basics are required, we also optimise your texts:

  • localisation – adapting content to the target audience and culture
  • terminology – ensuring consistent and validated use of technical wording
  • style – reformulating your message to resonate with your audience
  • "six-eye" quality assurance – having an external specialist review technical content

Artificial intelligence: machine translation has advantages and disadvantages.

Clients who first try out machine translation (MT) are often pleasantly surprised by the results. On closer look, however, they soon discover that the errors are only well hidden. It takes a human eye – and brain! – to identify the problems and to revise machine-translated texts. This task is called post-editing, and it’s one of the services we offer:

  • post-editing “streamlined” – ensuring that a message is clear and correct
  • post-editing “deluxe” – maximizing quality while minimizing costs

Good translations are often more than just a translation of the content – they are what is called a “transcreation.”

Transcreation unites the practices of translation, localisation, text creation or writing. At >>pro-verbial, we’re interested in understanding your multilingual communication needs – so we can translate your texts with a creative touch, adapting them to the target audience and culture

Alexandra de Bourbon

A Swiss citizen of German and Russian heritage, I grew up in Vaud and Geneva.

After completing my Swiss academic baccalaureate, I indulged my love of language and travelling before returning to Switzerland and earning a federal qualification as a fiduciary agent in Lausanne.

I have always worked in multilingual settings, and all things related to literature and good writing are an integral part of my life. Curious by nature and with a keen interest in the world and world events, I have acquired a wide range of skills in various fields – publishing, public relations, administration, education. This background knowledge now benefits >>pro-verbial’s clients.

I have been living in Zurich since 2003, where I enjoyed raising my children. In 2012, I co-founded >>pro-verbial and now look back on over 30 years of experience in translating, writing, proofreading, revising and rewriting French and English texts.

To further expand my repertoire, I earned a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Techniques of Written Communication at the University of Geneva (September 2021 to June 2022).

Anne-Sophie Meili

A French and Swiss dual citizen, I was born in Lausanne and grew up in French-speaking Switzerland.

After completing my Swiss academic baccalaureate in Geneva, I studied art history at the University of Zurich and then earned a bachelor’s degree in the conservation-restoration of paintings at the Bern University of Applied Sciences.

My professional activities have led me to Switzerland, France and Germany, where I have taken on positions in the history and technology of art, materials science, and natural and technical sciences. I moved to Zurich in 1997 and co-founded >>pro-verbial in 2012. In addition to art, culture, technology and science, my skillset encompasses lifestyle, marketing, administration and public relations, health and the environment, and I offer the transcreation (creative translation) of slogans and ads.

I have 30 years of experience in translating, editing, proofreading and localising texts from German and Swiss German into French, including Plain and Accessible Language.

I read your translation of our website and want to thank you for the excellent work. The translation relays our message – accurately and in a language that is easy to understand, even for non-native English speakers. I would also like to thank you for revising the original French text and for your constructive comments.

Jacques-Antoine Ormond, Senior Partner, 1875 Finance, Geneva

The texts >>pro-verbial translates for us are  technically and editorially demanding. We greatly appreciate their competence and reliability.

Swiss Hand Surgery, Aarau

We needed a German-to-French translation of a long report for various stakeholders in public administration. Despite the highly technical vocabulary in the field of restoration-conservation of cultural heritage at museums, the translation we received was true to the complex original content and clearly formulated. A perfect balance between accurate message transmission and natural, accessible language.

Joachim Huber, Managing Partner, Prevart GmbH, Museum Planning – Concepts for Conservation of Cultural Heritage, Winterthur

Thank you for the excellent translation of our flyer and for meeting all the deadlines.

Karin von Lerber, former president of the Swiss Association for Conservation and Restoration (SKR/SCR), Bern

The quality of your texts is impeccable. You seem to work miracles despite the pressure of tight deadlines.

Michel Benedetti, Public Relations Manager, IAZI AG - CIFI S.A., Zurich

>>pro-verbial regularly translates Kunst-und-Bau study contracts for selected French-speaking artists. We very much appreciate the excellent quality of their work as well as their ability to always meets our deadlines. These study contracts contain highly technical terms about materials, artistic techniques, architecture, concepts  and design. That these are translated with great accuracy is of the utmost importance to us because it is important that artists understand what is expected of them. >>pro-verbial can always be counted on.

Karin Frei Bernasconi, Head of Kunst-und-Bau, City of Zurich
